WSIB Demonstration Pilots
Return to Work - Labour Market Re-entry
The revised Early and Safety Return to Work draft policies are being tested in demonstration pilot projects in Hamilton (3 teams) and Toronto (6 teams) that commenced October 2006 and end in February 2007. Each team will use one of the two trial models being considered. The demonstration pilots introduce two new roles - Return to Work (RTW) Specialist and Labour Market Re-entry (LMR) Specialist. The RTW Specialist assists the worker and the employer in the RTW process. The LMR Specialist focuses on the quality of LMR service working closely with the worker, the LMR service provider and the claims adjudicator.
Implementation of the six proposed RTW policies is designed to achieve improvements in the RTW process. The collection of data from the pilot project will provide a better understanding on how these policies impact on improving the RTW outcomes.
These six draft policies were also released in November 2006 for public consultation, and can be accessed at www.wsib.on.ca (go to "Policy", "Policy Consultations"). The deadline for submissions is February 15, 2007.
